Highfields Podiatry

Our Services

Let’s keep you on your feet!

Feet can be affected by a variety of conditions, or they may simply be too difficult to reach.

Throughout the day, your feet can be subjected to a great deal of strain. Minor foot problems or improper footwear can lead to more serious issues such as decreased mobility, joint or soft tissue pain, instability, and injury.

We treat a variety of conditions affecting the lower limb and foot at Highfields Podiatry, including aching feet and legs, work-related foot injuries, sports injuries, children’s problems, cracked heels, toenail and skin conditions, bunions, and occupational foot health.

We also perform footwear evaluations and provide a variety of orthotics, including off-the-shelf, modified, and custom-made devices.

Our Services

Orthotic Therapy

Orthotics are inner soles that can either be off-the-shelf or customised to your particular foot/condition. They are prescribed to:

  • Improve foot posture
  • Reduce pain
  • Enhance function
  • Improve biomechanical deficiencies

Dry Needling

Is a technique used by Podiatrists to relieve myofascial tension and trigger points in muscles. It is very effective in treating overused and chronically injured muscles and improve the tensile strength of the muscles.

Biomechanical Assessment

A thorough lower limb assessment is performed to determine where the weakness or injury is located. Podiatrists are specialists in the lower limb and working out the problem in the kinetic chain and assessing the best treatment protocol.

Ingrown Toenail Surgery

Ingrown toenails can occur for a variety of reasons. Tight fitting footwear, previous or sudden trauma, poor cutting technique and poor gait.  Using Local Anesthetic and phenolisation of the nail, Podiatrists ensure the ingrown piece of nail is effectively and permanently removed with minimal pain and recovery time.

Footwear Assessment

Often a lot of patient’s pain and issues come from ill-fitting shoes or utilising shoes for the wrong purpose. Getting your shoes properly assessed by a knowledgeable professional will ensure you get the best value out of your footwear.

Paediatric Podiatry

James himself suffered many injuries as a child so he is acutely aware of how critical children’s lower limb development is. If your child is developing pain during school or sport, you’re noticing an abnormal walking/running style or they are unusually clumsy, please reach out.

Diabetic Assessments

Type 1 (Juvenile onset) and Type 2 (Lifestyle-related) are both increasingly prevalent in Australia. Podiatrists are always critical in educating people about their diabetes and assessing their neurological and vascular status.

Strapping/Taping

Rigid tape is a very effective tool in assessing and treating various lower limb conditions. James is qualified in using the more flexible Rock tape to enable people to continue moving and staying physically active.

Wart Treatment

Warts originate from a viral infection and can be very difficult to remove permanently. Podiatrists are experts in using various treatment methods to effectively rid people of warts.

General Treatment

General foot and nail care is performed when patients are unable to perform themselves or are immunocompromised and it’s safer to have a professional look after their lower limbs. Podiatrists ensure there is minimal risk of lower limb complications.
